Austin Law Office
Frequesntly Asked Questions
How much does it cost for you to take on my case?
Attorney's Fees will vary from case to case. We charge a flat fee on all criminal cases. Our fees for felonies begin at $3,500 and $1750 for misdemeanors. Prices depend on criminal history, the allegations and case location.
Should I talk to Law Enforcement?
We almost always recommend that you refrain from talking with law enforcement. Investigators have no obligation to be honest with you during questioning and can easily mislead you.
Do you allow clients to set up a payment plan?
Yes. It is rare that the full fee is due upfront. You can generally expect to pay one-half of the total attorney's fees for representation to begin. We accept cash, checks and credit cards.
My boyfriend was arrested for assaulting me. Can I have the charges dropped?
No. Most people believe the victim of an assault can have the charges dropped. This simply is not true. Prosecutors bear the decision making authority once an arrest is made.
How many criminal jury trials have you had?
The counting stopped after 65 jury trials. An overwhelming majority of criminal cases are resolved without a jury trial but why wouldn't you want your attorney to have that experience?
Can I clean up my criminal history?
It depends on a variety of factors. In Texas, expunctions and non-disclosure orders are two methods available for some people. Give us a call and we can tell you if that is a possibility for you.
